Alexia Gazi on her personal journey to sobriety and making for mindfulness

Alexia Gazi is an interior designer, self-taught artist, macramé maker, crafter and aspiring art therapist. She runs a small creative business teaching macramé as a form of mindfulness for wellbeing.

Alexia openly discusses her addiction to alcohol and being a recovering alcoholic. She describes her relationship with alcohol and the detrimental effects it had on her life, along with her journey to sobriety including therapy and attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

Two years into her recovery journey, she decided to teach herself 12 crafts in 12 months. She found the process of making and learning to be incredibly soothing for her often worrying, catastrophising mind. She found making allowed her to just be in the moment and thus began her love of making for mindfulness.

Alongside working as an interior designer, Alexia has been running a small business called Art of the H-art, teaching macramé for mindfulness in a range of settings.
